How to be Outdoors

Inspired by Trevor.
Step #1:

Open your front door. Seriously. If you're reading this, I'm willing to bet that you live in the Pacific Northwest, and there is a whole world of green within two blocks of your house. It's easy to get out of your house if you want to.

Step #2:

Stop making excuses. If you want to get out, get out. You don't have to start off climbing Mt. Hood, you can start out going car camping, going for a walk up Mount Tabor, going for a picnic in the park. Any park.

Step #3:
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Most outdoors enthusiasts will be excited that you want to get outdoors. People who don't suck will answer any of your questions about how to get outdoors. Don't be afraid to ask the local gear shop employee about what you need to go camping, backpacking etc. If you check out the "Resources" Section on the main site, and the Portland guide, you'll find books, websites, and local shops that will give you the tips you need.

Over the next year, I'll be doing a weekly (at least) update offering info on how to do...stuff. How to play safely and completely in the outdoors. I look forward to being able to share my insight, experience, and ridiculous adventures with all of you out there.

Best,
Candy
